It is with a very heavy heart that I must tell you all that dear Rocky made his way across the Rainbow Bridge yesterday. I will miss him more than words can say. He was the sweetest, funniest little guy that ever lived. A trooper until the bitter end, when the ugly seizure monster won. Please give all your pups extra hugs for me today.

It has been a long time since we last posted and OMD so much has happened. It seems our wild n' crazy lives have been changed forever...
On Sept. 23 our mom brought this thing home. She says it is our new baby sister. Does it look like our sister to you???
Anyways we are doing our best to make her feel at home and we do think she's sorta sweet. Her name is Lola. I keep humming that stupid Copa Cabana song, OMD. So guys, whada ya think? Should we let her stay???

Hot Dog!

We don't have any pictures to go with this post because Mom didn't have her camera with her this morning. We just wanted to share with you what happened at her office building this morning. She was taking her break and she and a friend were walking around the office building and they came across a parked car with a little dog locked inside. Two of the windows were barely down and it was already getting very hot outside! After finishing their walk (about 20 minutes later) they noted the dog was still locked in the car. They notified the local police dept. and they came over and broke into the car and freed the dog! Had it not been for our mom and her friend this poor pooch probably wouldn't have made it. The person who owned the car did not come back to their car for well over an hour! We know none of you guys would ever be put in this situation by your owners but we just wanted you to all be aware! The weather is so hot right now and it doesn't take long for a car to turn into an oven! Just yesterday an 18 month old child was left in a car in a town just down the road from us and sadly he didn't make it! What are people thinking when they do these things???

We cannot believe what our Mom has been doing! We hate to admit that this has been going on for several months now and we don't see any end in sight! We find this disgusting to say the least! These pictures tell the awful story! These dirty beggar cats come to our doorstep twice a day and our Mom FEEDS them! Sometimes we watch from the back gate and she tells us we are not even allowed to bark, can you guyz believe that??? What should we do about this? We think Mom has lost her mind! Any suggestions???

We are so excited! We got a package in the mail today from our buddy Joe Stains. We won a contest over at his blog when we left a comment about our favoritest post after he made his 1000th post! That's alot of blogging! Thanks Joe (and Tanner too). We love the corn shank and the rubber chicken. Ozzie had one of those chickens before but he disected it so this one will come in handy! Mom said to tell you she loves the keychain too and we think those treats from your local bakery are awesome! Thanks again guys and keep on blogging:)

Just thought I would let everyone know we are still alive and kickin'. Mom has been lousy keeping up with our blog but she does continue to read everyone's for us. Hope you are all having a blast getting ready for Christmas. We helped Mom put up our tree a few days ago. She didn't put her pretty tree skirt out this year though, just an old blue bed sheet. She made some remark about being able to just throw the sheet in the washer if I decided to hike my leg on it. Guess I should probably give that a try before too long. Would hate to ruin my reputation.

We've Been Busy!

I am finally giving Mom a chance to help update our blog. They just got back from Annapolis MD for our oldest furless brothers graduation from the Naval Academy. Ozzie and I got to stay at the vet's. We were not real thrilled about that. We got to stay in a cage for twelve days while they were in the lap of luxury. Not exactly fair if you ask me. I am going to let her share a few pictures of their week with you. Ozzie and I are very proud of our oldest furless brother! Congratulations Ensign Justin Garrett Jacks!
Oh, by the way, just so you know, that house is where the parents were chilling while we were living in that cage at the vet's office!

I am doing my best to keep myself out of trouble while trying not to be completely bored out of my brain. Rocky started up with his darned old seizures again last night so he is not feeling at all like playing with me tonite. Life is just not complete without a rousing round of bitey face! I hope that he feels good enough to play again by in the morning. At least it was a whole month between seizures this time! Hope all you pups are having good weekends!

Goodbye, Grandpa...

We are very sad to report that our Grandpa passed away today. But we know that he is in a much better place and will never have any more pain. Thanks to all of you who remembered him in your prayers. Please continue to pray for our grandma, she is really going to miss him!

This is not the best picture of our Grandpa, he really is a happy fellow when he is feeling well. We just wanted to share a visual so you would know who we were talking about. Grandpa is very sick and in the hospital. His COPD has gotten very bad. We appreciate your prayers for him and our Grandma. She is really having a tough time dealing with his illness. Updates and other news...

My mom wanted me to be sure and tell you all that she very much appreciated all the good thoughts and prayers you sent up for our Grandpa. He is doing much better today and will probably be moved out of ICU and into a regular room. He may be at the hospital for a few more days though.
When she got back from sitting with Grandpa at the hospital today guess where I got to go? The V-E-T! Can you believe that? I didn't even get any fair warning either. It just happened! Dad was petting me and said "Hey, what's that on Rocky's hind quarter? And Mom said "What?" and then the next thing I know BAM! I'm on the examining table! The spot didn't look quite like the picture shown here when Mom took me in. It was just a raised spot with all the hair off of it. It was a fairly large spot and Mom was concerned it might be ring worm. The doc said it could be, but it didn't test positive for that. He gave me some antibiotics and some cream to put on it though. He said he wanted to see me back if it doesn't get better or if I get more spots. Then he will do a biopsy...
I did get a new collar out of the deal though. When Mom was getting ready to take me to the vet she couldn't find a collar here at the house that fit me. Can you believe she had the nerve to ask the Vet's assistant if they had any big collars that would fit my "fat" neck? The nice lady was quick to correct Mom though. She told her my neck was not "fat", it was muscular. So there! Anyways, I will keep you guys posted on what happens with this spot and I will also give you updates on my Grandpa! Thanks again for all your thoughts & prayers!

We are still here!

We told Mom that one post a month was not gonna cut it! This is getting ridiculous! We made her take a fresh picture of us to put up so that you could see we were still alive anyways!
Things have been pretty busy around here lately though, so we will cut her a little slack. Our dear Grandpa is back in the hospital. This is the second time since the first of the year. He has COPD. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers for us.
In better news though, our oldest furless brother will be home for Spring Break in a couple of days. We are really looking forward to getting to spend some time with him. Hopefully Mom will get some pictures to post while he is home this time. Geez, it's like pulling teeth...
Before we go, we want to know if any other pup out there uses that PediPaws thingy. We got one from Santa (no cool treats this year) but we haven't used it too much yet. If any of you have one do you like it? The jury is still out here.

She's been whining because she had to spend the better part of the evening taking her cd collection out of their cases and putting them in her big cd case. We were so excited Friday afternoon! We got a package in the mail from our budz Waylon and Willie! Just look at all the cool stuff in that box! We just love our new stuffies. Well, in all honesty we have loved the Santa stuffie a little too much but that other stuffie is still "hanging in there". We have had the bestest time hiding and finding the Milk Bones too! Do you see that little figurine? It looks just like a little tiny one of us! Our Mom said that the Trail Mix was awesome too. She wouldn't share with us so we told her she couldn't have any of our Milk Bones either! Thanks again Waylon and Willie! You and your family are the bestest!

Mom finally got around to putting up our Christmas tree tonight. She and our youngest furless brother hung all the ornaments and I supervised while Ozzie enjoyed a long winter's nap. They decorated the tree with the "old" ornaments this year instead of the standard Hallmark collection. Our youngest furless brother insists he likes it this way so much better. Most of these old ornaments were from our Mom's Aunt's collection. We don't really care too much about all that though. We are just ready for Santa Paws to come and bring us stuff!

Thanksgiving

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Lots of company and lots of good food. We pretty much stayed out from underfoot, though. Ozzie pulled a muscle the day before and was feeling under the weather and I had a bout with seizures earlier in the week. Mom said the only good thing about us not feeling up to par was that we did not get over exuberant with the older guests. They all have thin skin (ie, Grandpa, Grandma) and we tend to leave "marks" when we show affection. Hope that you all had the bestest day ever. Here are a few pictures from our celebration...

I do not have any pictures to put with this post---Mom says this is probably a good thing. Stop with the lecturing already Mom, I get it! You remember that picture she posted a few weeks back of that wicked looking creature on our fence??? Well, joy of joys, I have discovered a bunch of miniature critters in my back yard that look just like that one! They are little and they hiss at me and they make me C-R-A-Z-Y! When Mom let me out last night I came back in the house covered in little black bugs! Mom was muttering something about "fleas" and I got two baths! Can you believe that??? Anyways when she talked to Dad this morning he picked up some flea spray for the yard. He called Mom at work and told her something about finding a dead possum in the yard and that I probably killed it and that is where the fleas came from. I am not saying if I did or I didn't. But anyways I sure tried to get me another one of those critters when Mom let me out while ago! I had it trapped up against the house behind a flower pot! Mom was yelling something about rabies and Momma possums and she made me come back in the house! No fun... Those little buggers better watch out!

This guy is just lucky that I am not snuggling up on a squirrel skin rug right now!

OMD! Look at this picture! This huge creature is perched on the fence in my backyard as I speak! Mom doesn't even think I was aware of its presence. She went out back to call me inside and just happened to glance over and see it! Only about 5 feet away from her! As you can see in the other picture she tucked me safely inside before she attempted to "capture the moment"!

Update on Storm...

Just wanted to let all of our friends know that we are safe and sound down here around Corpus Christi, Texas. Things did not turn out so good for our neighbors around Houston and Galveston though...After watching the news and seeing all the damage they received we truly feel blessed! We dodged a big bullet!
Don't know if we will be blogging again this week. The parents are going up to the Naval Academy to visit our oldest fur brother and they are making us stay at the mean old vet's! We will catch you when we all get back!

Expecting company!

We are so excited! Ozzie is resting up and I am waiting by the front door. Mom told us that Ikes is coming for a visit! We can hardly wait!
Note from mom---I hate to disappoint the boys but they are badly mistaken. Ike is coming for a visit, but not the Ike they are expecting! We will probably be forced away from our blogging for a while. We will be hunkered down at my parents house waiting out the storm. Hopefully there won't be any major problems and we will be back on line soon!
On another note we wanted to let everyone know that Grandpa is back home and doing much better! Tanika was very happy to see him!

Our Grandpa is doing much better. Thanks for all your prayers and good thoughts! He is currently in the rehab section at the hospital. They say he will be there at the very least for twenty days. Our Grandma told our Mom today that they allow canine visitors there. Grandpa's little dacshund Tanika will be very glad to hear that news! Mom hopes to go along on that trip so that she can take a few pictures to post on our blog. That will be some reunion because Tanika is Grandpa's little shadow!

Mom has been away for the past few days so we have not been able to blog or keep up with our friends blogs. Our Grandpa (Mom's dad) is in the hospital. He is in the intensive care unit fighting a lung infection and all the other nasty side effects of emphysema. We hope that he will be home soon. Mom is home right now because he is doing a little better. She says she is tired and will try to help us with our blog more later.
Oh and I haven't had any of those nasty seizures for almost a week now. Keep all your paws and fingers crossed and please say a prayer for our Grandpa...

Feeling Better...

I am feeling alot better. I was pretty much out of touch with reality this past weekend. Here are some pics of the stuff Mom uses to get me by. She started the Rescue Remedy/Ice Cream therapy this time around and it really seemed to work wonders. I get about a TBLSP of the ice cream with 4 drops of the Rescue Therapy on it after a seizure. It really seemed to help me come around sooner. Plus, I didn't have another seizure once she used it. Hopefully we will be able to hold them at bay for a while now. But I sure did enjoy that ice cream. Maybe she will let me have a taste every now and then, even when I am feeling o.k.

Rocky is bummed out...

I am NOT feeling good today. Yesterday we had a bad thunderstorm and it scared me and triggered my crazy seizures. To top that off my left eye was swollen shut this morning so Mom had to take me to the vets. He says I have an ulcer on my eye. He gave me two different kinds of drops. I've been shaking my head alot lately so Mom also had him check my ears. Gave me some drops for an ear infection. She talked to him about my seizures. He suggested that she give me the supplement Lecithin everyday with my food. He says that should help to loosen up my nerves so that my seizures wouldn't be as severe. I usually go about 30 days without one and then I will have a "cluster" of them over the course of a couple days. Hopefully I will be feeling like my old self again really soon, but right now, I am not a happy camper.

We have had a pretty quiet and uneventful weekend. Our youngest, furless brother has taken off to Turner Falls in Oklahoma with his Grandma and cousin, Josh for a short vacation. School will be starting in a couple of weeks...
Our dad got some body art done over the weekend. As you can tell by the pictures he is really into weight lifting and martial arts.

I am so glad it is the weekend. It's cool having the parents around to feed me treats and tend to my every whim, ha! ha! I have them wrapped around my paw! I had several seizures a few days ago and that always seems to get their attention!
Here is also a picture of me and my oldest furless brother. He left early Thursday morning for the Naval Academy. He is helping out with the end of Plebe Summer. We sure miss him. Every now and then I imagine I can smell some turkey cookin'. That's when he will be back. We can hardly wait!

Had a ball, but no more...

Everyone has commented on my big red ball. Was that cool or what? We really don't know where it came from. One day it was in a yard down the street from our house and then it slowly moved down the street and into my mouth! Can you believe that?
Anyways, the ball has seen better days. Dad took it away from me. My oldest furless brother kept commenting the other day that I sure smelled like poop. Anyways, Dad got to investigating and guess what? I had like this really long string that he pulled from uh, well you know and he said I probably swallowed it while I was dismantling that huge ball! So he took the ball away... No pictures of the string, Mom says that is gross. But she will take a pic of the ball and publish it later so you can see what a good job I did on it. That is, if Dad didn't already toss it in the trash!

We have really been enjoying our summer. Just hanging out and doing a whole lot of nothin'. Our oldest furless brother will be leaving later this week. We hate to see him go and we have really enjoyed our visit. We won't see him again until we smell the turkey. That will be awhile...

I am so stoked!!! Mom has forgotten to chase me around with that syringe full of Potassium Bromide twice now!!! I can't believe how good things are. This is great!
(Note from Mom: He just THINKS he's not getting his meds! After months of chasing him around with a syringe and making him take an oral medication that must have been horrendous, we got the vet to have it compounded into capsule form! Just slip a little capsule into his favorite treat and he never knows the difference!)

C'mon, share already...

Our oldest human brother has been home from the Naval Academy for a few days. He got here Thursday evening and found out he would be leaving Tuesday evening (tomorrow). We had thought he would be here until this Friday...But the good news is he will be back around the 25th of this month for a three week stay. In the meantime he will be suffering somewhere in Hawaii for a couple of weeks. We really feel bad for him...but duty calls. He will be spending about a week of that time on a submarine somewhere off the coast of Pearl Harbor. At least he hopes it will only be about a week...
But if he thinks that's bad, take a look at these pictures! Can you see him sitting there enjoying that giant chocolate milk shake??? He only let us lick his finger, once, giving us some lame story about chocolate not being good for us. Whatever!

Just talked to the vet and thought I'd let all Ozzers buds know that he got a good report! The lump is nothing to worry about and should disappear on its own. He just said we should keep an eye on it but it shouldn't be a problem at all! That is wonderful news for the Ozzman because this has been a pretty rough year for him so far! We are still here!

Not toooo much has been going on lately. Dad is still pulling tomatoes off his bushes and he and Mom are still just silly about it. We made them promise not to post anymore pictures of those goofy plants on our blog! Therefor, we don't have any pictures to post with this, thanks Mom.
Our oldest human brother is coming home Thursday for about a week. He had his tonsils out a week ago today. Mom was all upset because she couldn't be there to hold his hand. Whatever.
Let's see, in other news, Ozzie had to go see the vet Saturday. He has a lump on his back. The doc said he didn't think it was anything to worry about but he took a sample and made a slide to send off. We should have the results by the end of the week. Paws crossed in ain't nothin. Ozzers says he's been through enough already! Of course I couldn't be outdone. I thrilled Mom with TWO seizers real early Sunday morning. I know she just loves it when I wake her up in the middle of the night like that, ha! ha! Anywayz, that's about it. We are looking forward to next week though. Mom will be off work and hopefully will do a better job of helping with our blog this time around!

Dudez (and Dudettes), you should have been with me and Mom on our walk today! It was so wild. She wishes she would have had the camera. We saw a FOX, in broad open daylight, walk out of OUR neighborhood and cross the street over to the school! The same school where I like to go every evening and leave my umm, deposit... It was a big fox too! We could hardly believe our eyes!
Oh, before I forget in all the excitement, Mom wanted to share some lame pictures of Dad's goofy old tomatoes. He picked a red one this morning and they were just beside themselves! I will let you know if I see that fox anymore. Mom is going to take the camera with us next time!

Keeping a straight face around rocky is a cheek muscle-wrenching nightmare. Try as you may, but giggling is inevitable because rocky is comedian Will Ferrell!

For a while rocky was just funny on Saturday nights, but that's all changed now that he's taken his act on the road. Whether he's being silly in real life or on the silver screen, rocky has a true knack for making people crack up. rocky has even managed to make the crossover to the cyberwebs, where he delivers raw, fresh, uncooked humor to his countless cyberpet fans. Ozzie's Home!!!

Just wanted all of our friends to know that the Ozz Man is home! I just picked him up from the vet's. He is secluded to the kitchen (and not too happy about that), but he is here. And you will have to take my word for it because the husband is out of town and has my camera with him. I won't be able to post any new pics until Monday. Sorry.
The vet said to bring him back in about a week to have stitches removed and to keep him on his antibiotic until he has finished it all. There is still more bleeding than I would like for there to be but I guess that is just part of it. He is wearing one of the little diapers but I have a little trouble keeping them pulled up. He is wearing a large cone on his head so he can't bite at them. I will keep you posted on how things are going. He is getting used to being back here and he and Rocky are getting reaquainted a little at a time.

Oh Brother, Where Art Thou???

I am so depressed! My little brother was supposed to come home today and he is not here! I think I'm just going to stay in bed and sulk....

Poor Rocky. But poor Ozzie more. I went to pick him up this afternoon. They were going to release him to come home. When he came out to the lobby at the vet's office there were two other dogs there and he got to jumping around and started bleeding. There was quite a bit of blood so the vet said he was sorry but Mr. Ozzie would not be able to go home today. He said he wanted to keep him another day, or so... Hopefully tomorrow but I don't know for sure. Otherwise things are going fine for him. He just needs to get the bleeding under control. In the meantime I will be consoling Rocky (and myself).

I spoke with the vet just now and he wants to keep Ozzie one more night. He says that everything is fine but that there is still a lot of bleeding. He feels like it would just be better to keep him until tomorrow afternoon. But everything is good and he will be back home with us tomorrow evening! I promise I will post pictures!

Another Ozzie Update

Just wanted everyone to know the vet called and said the surgery went well and that he was waking up. He is going to keep him over night. He said he ran some tests and all indications were that this should work. Of course we won't know for sure until Ozzie urinates. Everyone keep your fingers and paws crossed and say a prayer that this does the trick! I will let you all know more as soon as I know more!

Just want all of Ozzie's buddies to know that he is still in the hospital. The vet wanted to keep him through the weekend. Things haven't changed much. If things are not better by Monday the vet will do another surgical procedure. This one would involve creating a new opening in the urethra for Ozzie to urinate from. Paws and fingers crossed he won't have to do this! Thanks for your continued concern and prayers. I will be going to visit him for awhile in the morning.

Set Back

Just wanted to let Ozzie's pals know that he has suffered a bit of a set back. He has been having trouble urinating so the vet is keeping him a few days and giving him meds to help with this problem. Ozzie ended up having to have surgery yesterday afternoon. They repaired his prolapsed urethra and he had to be neutered. He is still not really feeling up to par but he is glad to be home. He is having some trouble urinating but hopefully that is just because of all the swelling. The vet wants me to call him in the morning and let him know if I see any improvement. As of tonight though he is barely able to produce a trickle. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers!

OMD you guys will never believe what we got to do today! We got to get in the car and go somewhere BESIDES the vet's office! It was so cool! We were really nervous right at first because we didn't know what to expect, but boy did we have the bestest time ever! We had the greatest surprise too! Look at these pictures! We got to go have a meet up with Waylon and Willie! They were down here at the beach for Spring Break and our parents arranged for us to get together! It was the bestest time and we can't wait to do it again!

We are busy laying around and relaxing because Mom told us something about getting to take a special road trip on Sunday. So, you all know about that terrible bout I had with the seizures the middle of last month. That's a whole lot like having electric shock treatments. You forget stuff. And I gotta admit I really did forget some things, for a while. I hate to say it but for about a week there I was pooping in the house like all the time. Mom didn't say too much, cause she understood the deal. But I have gotten my memory back. I remember lots of cool stuff and I poop outside and mostly, I pee outside. But I guess I am just being a little rebellious. See, tonight, right in front of Mom, I hiked my leg TWICE, on this basket of pine cones that she kept in the corner. I think she's had those pine cones like 25 years or something like that. At least that's what she was mumbling when she was carrying it out to the trash. She even had the nerve to look me in the eye and say, "bad dog". Jeez. Anyways, she ran the carpet cleaner in the bedroom tonight. She said something about the vacuum cleaner not working so she'd have to wait to do the rest of it. She probably blames that on me too, but I swear, I did NOT hike my leg on the vacuum cleaner....Ha! Ha!

Thank you all so much for your support, concern and prayers! Rocky is doing much better. He even barked this morning when my husband knocked on the wall! He has come along ways. He went back to the vet this morning and got another valium injection and we got one more to give him tonite. He will go back to the vet in the morning for followup! I am so glad that we changed vets for him. I think it made a big difference. He is much more aware of his surroundings now and Gary (husband) told me that he did his business out in the yard this morning. That's a big improvement! I am glad we have Ozzie there to kind of help "re-teach" Rocky a few things. Not that Ozzie is the best teacher, ha! ha!
Thanks again for all of your prayers and well wishes. Hopefully he will make a complete recovery and be back to his old self real soon!

Bitter Sweet Valentine's Day

This is Rocky's mom. Sorry we haven't been doing too much blogging lately, but our little Rocky has really had a rough week. He started having cluster seizures Monday morning and pretty much went in to status. We have made four trips to his new vet's office this week, and at times felt very much that perhaps it was time to just let go... Anyway, after a rather bad night the night before last, the vet administered a shot of valium and sent one home with us. He had at least 3 seizures (that we know of) last night. He returned to the vet this morning and the vet said that since he didn't have near as many seizures yesterday that maybe after this round of valium he wouldn't have any more. He is very "doped up" and not himself. The vet sent another shot of Valium home for us to give him tonite. He also took him off of the Phenobarbitol and he is taking 2 cc of Pottasium Bromide every 12 hours.
Hope all of you and your pups are having a wonderful Valentine's Day. Please send good thoughts Rocky's way and say a prayer that he will see many more Valentine's Days.

I really haven't decided what I think about this new "diet". Look at the bag (is it huge enough or what already), and that can. Plain generic looking stuff. Mom doled some of the dry food out at lunch, pretending it was a "treat". Does she think I'm a dimwit or what? Ozzie bought it, but that's no surprise! Ha! Ha! Anyway, tonite she fed me some of the canned stuff. I ate it, because of course I was starving. No treats all day! She fed me while the Ozzers was out on his walk. When he came back she put me out in the yard for awhile. When I came back in, I swear, I smelled Little Cesar's on Ozzie's breath! What's up with that??? This is a travisty!

Rocky's mom here. He is not going to be a happy camper I am afraid! I heard from the vet this afternoon. One of his liver function tests showed to be moderatly elevated. He wants to put Rocky on a special ld diet for a couple of weeks and then check him again. He is going to keep him on the phenobarbitol like he's been on for right now. NO treats, just this new dog food. He is so spoilt to Little Cesar's and special treats all the time. Afraid Ozzie's little life will change too. No treats for Rocky will mean no treats for him too. Gotta treat them equal. Of course while poor Rocky's dining on prescription dog food, Ozzie will be getting the Little Cesar's. You will probably be hearing from the Rock Man real soon. The new diet will start tomorrow! Dad will pick up the new food on his way home from work in the morning.

Rocky's visit to the vet went pretty well this morning. The vet did blood work and said for us to call between 10:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. tomorrow to get the results. He said if he was us he would go ahead and continue to treat this as idiopathic seizures. He said we could spend a ton of money to try and find the cause, but that we couldn't "cure" the seizures, only control them. He said since Rocky is currently on such a high dosage of the phenobarbitol that he may consider treatment with potassium bromide. He also discovered he had a slight ear infection and gave us medication for that. He gave him a steroid shot to help calm his nerves. He said since he had so many seizures yesterday that his nerves were tied in knots and that could bring on more seizures and that the steroid would help that. He seemed much better when I saw him at noon. Paws and fingers crossed his tests all come back good and that the new medication will do the trick.

Changing Doctors

Mom hadn't mentioned it in the blog because she didn't want to alarm any of my buddies, but I haven't been doing too well this month. My seizures have been pretty consistent since the first of the year. I had one on Jan 13th, 2 on Jan 17th and another on Jan 18th. That day she called the vet and he upped my Phenobarbitol to 60 mgs twice a day. He wanted me to come in in two weeks for bloodwork. Well, today, Jan 28, I have had 4 seizures. Dad is going to take me to my Grandpa's vet tomorrow. Grandpa takes his dacshund, Tanika to this vet and says that he is very good and only treats little animals. My regular vet also treats horses and cows and I really think they are his specialty, not little animals. So anyways, everyone keep your paws crossed for me that everything works out. Mom is a nervous wreck!

Just Hangin' Out

Ozzie-I love to stand by the refrigerator whenever someone is getting ice and beg for ice. I just love to munch on ice.
Rocky-I love to beg for ice too, but I won't crunch it. I want someone to hold it for me so I can just lick it.
Ozzie-I refuse to poop in my own yard. Mom has to take me down the street every day at approximately 5:30 p.m. so I can get my business done.
Rocky-I sometimes have seizures.
Ozzie-I occasionally do the "backwards sneeze" just to scare people to death.

Rocky-I like to sleep all the way under the covers.

We had the most pawsome Christmas ever! The family all came over and we got to open presents and the weather was so nice we even got to spend some time playing outside! Just Hangin' Out

We've been super lazy these days, so sorry if we've kind of neglected our blogging posts. We have been reading everydoggy's blogs, we just haven't paid much attention to ours. But we're back!

Our oldest human brother flew in Tuesday night and we have been enjoying his company. He will fly out again this coming Wednesday morning to attend the Poinsettia Bowl in San Diego, but he told us he would be back in plenty time for Santa Paws!

We've been enjoying getting Christmas Cards from our DWB friends these past couple of weeks. As you can tell we have about run out of room. Thank goodness Mom and Dad don't get too many cards. We only got one of the one's we mailed out returned. Mom's fault--she didn't write the address down correctly. She will put it back in the mail tomorrow though! She will be off work until after Christmas so she has no excuse not to spend plenty of time giving belly rubs and helping us with our blog!

Hope all you pups are staying warm. It was 30 degrees in our back yard this morning. We had to put on the coats again! Brrrrr.

Just thought I'd let all you pups know my Mom talked to the vet this morning. He is upping my Phenobarbitol to 45 mgs twice a day. He told her to give it to me like that for a couple of weeks and then let him know how I am doing. If all goes well I shouldn't need to be poked anymore for 6 months! That would be a good thing!

Update on Rocky

Thanks to everyone for your well wishes and advice. I really appreciate your in put. Rocky's seizures started in May of this year. There was no apparent reason or underlying factor so the vet just diagnosed it as canine epilepsy. He took bloodwork this morning and will have a report for me on Monday. He did not want to up the dosage just yet. He did say that if Rocky ever had a seizure he didn't want to come out of that I should get him out there right away for an injection of Valium. He said that would pull him out of it. He also said we could try other medications if we couldn't get the phenobarbitol to do the trick. He said Rocky could expect to live a long and happy life if we just get the seizures under control. I will wait and see what the tests indicate and I guess take it from there.

Rocky's Double Feature

This is Rocky's mom. I would really like some advice. Rocky had two seizures today. The first at 6:30 a.m. and the second around 6:30 p.m. The last one he had prior to today was the Sunday before Thanksgiving (he had three about twenty minutes apart very early that morning). He is taking 60 mgs of phenobarbitol a day now, (30 in a.m., 30 in p.m.) When he had the three seizure episode I called the vet and he increased the phenobarbitol from 45 mgs per day to the 60 and said he wanted to see him in two weeks for bloodwork. My question is this, do you think I am going down the right road with this vet, or should I take him somewhere else? He started with the seizures in early May of this year and averages one about every two weeks. I would appreciate any feedback, especially from those of you battling the same problem!

We had the bestest time this evening playing tug of war with our oldest human brother. He will be leaving early, early in the morning to fly back to Annapolis. We will miss him, but he will be back Dec. 11 and will stay until after the New Year! Yeah!

It's Almost Turkey Day!

Our oldest human brother is home for Thanksgiving. He had to give a presentation at the local High School on Tuesday for Career Day so Mom made him stand still long enough to get a picture in his dress blues. He likes to have his picture taken almost as much as we do.

We enjoyed sleeping in our new bed until around 3:40 a.m. when Rocky had his first of three seizures this morning. They were about 20 minutes apart. He slept most of the morning after that and did not feel real good most of the day. We are playing and "fighting" a little bit this evening, and he got Mom to play Tug of War with him a couple times. She's gonna call the vet in the morning to see if he wants to adjust Rocky's medicine again.
On a good note our oldest human brother came home from the Naval Academy today to spend Turkey Day with us. We were very excited to see him and it made everybody feel alot better after our rough morning. We'll keep you updated with what the doctor has to say.
